AI in Action E104: Geetu Ambwani, Senior Director of Data Insights at Flatiron Health

 | July 7 2020 | JP Valentine

Welcome to episode 104 of the AI in Action podcast, the show where we break down the hype and explore the impact that Data Science, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence are making on our everyday lives.

Powered by Alldus International, our goal is to share with you the insights of technologists and data science enthusiasts to showcase the excellent work that is being done within AI in the United States and Europe.

Today’s guest is Geetu Ambwani, Senior Director of Data Insights at Flatiron Health in New York. Their mission is to improve lives by learning from the experience of every cancer patient. What stands in the way is that much of the available, real-world clinical data is unstructured and stored across thousands of disconnected community clinics, medical centers and hospitals but this is a problem that Flatiron believe they can solve.

Geetu is deeply interested in the art and science of applying machine learning and data science techniques to formulate and help solve hard problems in the healthcare space. Over the last 15 years, she has worked at the intersection of data science and product development and is constantly driven to find new insights into text, semi-structured and structured data. She also enjoys participating in conferences and panels organized by the NYC tech and data community.

In the show, Geetu will discuss:

Flatiron’s impact in the healthcare sector

The role of the Data Insights function

Interesting projects within drug discovery for cancer patient care

How they set up a successful Data Science team

Transitioning her skills from media into Healthtech

What the future looks like at Flatiron Health
